If you are using Word 2013 or Word 2016, you will need to disable Reading Mode and Protected View options in order to print or transmit response letters.
Disable Reading Mode
To disable the Reading Mode, start by opening Word.
- Select File.
- Select Word Options.
- The "Word Options" window will open. Select General from the top of the left navigation panel.
- Toward the bottom of the screen, uncheck "open e-mail attachments and other uneditable files in reading view." Then click OK.
Disable Protected Mode
Still within the "Word Options" screen, select Trust Center from the left navigation panel, and then select "Trust Center Settings."
The "Trust Center" window will open. Select Protected View, and uncheck all of the checkboxes.
Then click OK.
